HDD problem

Wir haben aktuell ein Problem mit dem Board und arbeiten an der Lösung...

    i installed last GP image and today installed new HDD in my DM7080 but cant format it.
    i installed other image (oozoon) and it do it perfect without problem.
    what i must to do ?

    use eParted Plugin - should work.

    I install hdd and flash last gp image.
    I see this : can't create pattition.
    After that I format hdd with win7 And tried again but same error.
    I delete partition with win7 without format.
    Gemini create swap partition but error : can't create /media/hdd/movie folder.
    Tried again and see last error : can't create partition.
    With oozoon image without problem formated hdd.
    after format with oozoon, gp can't detect hdd and said you must format it .and same story.
    My hdd is toshiba 320 .

    even after rereading your post 3 times, I don't understand what you did


    why use win7


    and you didn't answer if you used the DMM or the GP device manager

    i want initialize my HDD.
    i put my HDD in my DM7080 and flashed Gemini image.
    but when i want initialize HDD i see error : cant create partition.
    so i think my HDD had problem so i format my HDD with my laptop .
    when i tried again with DM7080 again see error can not create /HDD/move .
    i test with other Gemini-merlin image but same.
    i test with oozoon image and it work ok and i initialized my HDD without problem.
    after that i flashed DM7080 with Gemini image but again i see : you must initialize your HDD but again gemini image cant initialize HDD.
    i do this in device manager in menu.
    i hope you understand what i want to say.

    same problem.
    i test with newnigma2 image and initialize hdd was ok without problem.
    oozoon image was ok too.
    i think Gemini image have problem with some hard disks.

    if the HDD is formated/initialized you just need to mount,
    so I don't understand why you keep formating

    i know when HDD initialized with other image it must work on Gemini too.
    but when i flash Gemini it don't record or playback movies on hdd .when you want do this Gemini image show message you must initialize hdd.

    All you need is a labelled harddrive with the name hdd.
    To do so use the device manager from gemini plugin...


    And a movie folder... => /media/hdd/movie


    Thats all you need and for sure a bookmarks that point to it (eg. media/hdd/movie :winking_face:

    and never mix the DMM device manager with the GP Device manager

    i found problem.
    if you put a unformatted HDD on your DM7080 and flash new image like last GP image you cant initialize your HDD.
    you must formatted your HDD with other old images like oozoon or other receivers like VU+
    and record on it.then you created partition /hdd/move on HDD and now your DM7080 with last GP image can detect it and you can record on that.
    i test it with many images like original - merlin - Gemini - powersat - oozoon - newnigma2
    and only oozoon & newnigma2 can initialize unformatted HDD.other new image cant do it.

    I can't agree to that. I've installed a new hard drive (WD Red 3 TB) in my new 7080 and initialized it with the default image and the device manager without a single problem.


    But if you have any plugin installed, that interferes with the default device management (like GP3 or merlindevicemanagerudev or ...), you will get problems with the default device manager. Then you should use the plugin or something like eparted, etc...

    i think problem is from GP device manager.
    because Gemini-merlin image cant initialize HDD but last Merlin image do it without problem.
    i test it in gemini-merlin and after flash image i must go to gp device manager and unmount all partitions ( swap &...)and after that i can mount HDD in dmm device manager and i can record and playback videos.
    i test it with 2 other HDD too.and answers was same.

    after many days i change my image today again.
    i used original image and GP plugin.
    when i installed original image my new HDD 3.5 work ok and after that i installed GP plugin and every things worked ok.
    today i back to merlin-gemini image and i have problem with my HDD again.
    i am sure problem is from GP device manager.
    when i installed new merlin-gemini image and "setup---devices---storage device" i can see my HDD but : unsupported partition .
    and i cant initialize it.
    i go to GP device manager and i see 2 part :
    1- HDD 930gb
    2- swap 1gb
    and after many tries i unmounted swap in gp device manager and after that i go to :
    setup---devices---storage device
    and i see : please initialize HDD .
    but i cant initialize HDD yet and i see : unable to create partition.
    but now i can mount HDD and i can see my hdd and i can record on that.
