recovery password

Wir haben aktuell ein Problem mit dem Board und arbeiten an der Lösung...

    By default all know the original log/pass of the Dreambox
    root
    dreambox


    I use personal password to protect intruder via ftp or http.


    My personal password was inserted long time ago and at this day i can't remember, today finally i found the solution.


    Thx to add-on TUBOX COMMANDER (TuxCom)
    Without access from any other place, that tool is great, it’s a full internal DM explorer and you can edit any files on your DM.


    Navigate to var/etc and there is the password file
    passwrd


    I edit and change the first line with this
    root:V26.Uf.kSvoYg:0:0::/:/bin/sh


    That restores the root/dream box original password

    i got login incorect

    probably this mean dreambox = V26.Uf.kSvoYg


    note: i use DM500 s

    just remove password at all and then login without any and type new
    change from:
    root:V26.Uf.kSvoYg:0:0::/:/bin/sh
    to:
    root::0:0::/:/bin/sh


    cause that controlsum can be different also on one type box when image is different on it

    I am new, my question is I have forgotten my password If I run DCC.exe . How to remove password at all and then login without any ?

    The TuxBox Commander also says "Please enter your password " what can I do next ... please help
