Are you connected via wifi? that might be the problem.
if you end up with a grey screen when connected via cable then
remove, reboot iphone and reinstall the airserver-app

tried that also tried via wired connection to same results its weird as it kind of puts my dreambox into file mode and i have to press tv to go back to tv mode

Hallo zusammen.

Ich habe heute auch mal versucht den AirVideo Server zum laufen zu bekommen.
Ich habe alles der Anleitung nach konfiguriert. Bei folgendem Punkt war ich mir allerdings nicht ganz sicher:

- Füge ein Preset "LiveTV" im Air Video Client auf dem iPhone/iTouch hinzu: width 480, height 272, quality 70% (z.B.)

Hier hab ich einfach auf dem Iphone App in den Global Settings des Airvideo die Einstellungen vorgenommen.

Die Channels.ini Datei hab ich ebenfalls bearbeitet. Zum testen hab ich einfach einen Sender genommen (Teleclub Sport 1 aus der Schweiz). Die mp4 datei liess ich allerdings unverändert (ist anscheinend nicht notwendig, hier etwas zu ändern oder liege ich da falsch?)
Sieht nun folgendermassen aus (Dreambox 600):

Den Livetv Ordner hab ich beim Server ebenfalls hinzugefügt. Das klappt alles tadellos.

Wenn ich nun auf dem Ipohne den Stream starten möchte (mit "Play with Live Conversion") kommt zuerst Preparing Video und danach lädt er noch etwa 1 Sekunde. Danach komme ich zurück zum Menu, wo ich wieder auf Play klicken könnte.
Wisst ihr, an was dass liegen könnte?

muss die zap URL für jeden Sender von Hand angelegt werden oder kann man das auch über die Buoquet Editor machen ?

I am using the latest airvideo and using the ffmpeg mod gives me invalid in airvideo. I tried both the ffmpeg's provided here.

I tried to install the 2.2.5beta2 airvideo server however the airvideo client refuses to connect to this server saying it is too old. Anyone got a suitable ffmpeg modded for the latest airvideo server?

The version attached in my TLP works fine with latest versions of the client and server.

... whether this is an original air video or a mod issue. symptoms point to the former, but heck I got the TV mod to work a couple weeks ago and now I don't know what happened.

following symptoms:
- when trying to add a server in the iphone app, it doesn't find my server on the local network. adding IP manually works (can connect and shows the directories incl. Live TV)
- most of my stored videos show "invalid", no live conversion button is offered. very few videos offer live conversion button. clicking on them brings "loading movie" screen a couple seconds, then video closes
- trying a live TV channel shows same symptoms. few seconds "preparing video" popup, then 1s grey screen, then ad infinitium a black "loading movie" screen.

I tried:
- un- and re-install air video server (plus all the mod steps, esp. replacing ffmpeg.exe)
- un- and re-install air video app (just the free version, but paid and free version show exact same behavior.

what could this be?? anything left to try out? what bugs me most that everything (standard air video functionality plus TV mod) used to work like a charm... I think there is no time coincindence, but could it be that there's a connection from moving from tethered to untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak on the iphone??

Exit Air Video Server and delete thumbnail cache.
In Windows usually here:
C:\Documents and Settings\"username"\Local Settings\Application Data\AirVideoServer

Then start again.

thanks a million, jocky, everything works again! geez, what will we do if you chose to disconnect an live happily on a deserted beach in thailand? I wouldn't have figured this out in hundred years...
on question though: what messed up the thumbnails? could this have to do with multiple users on my windows? i recall having read an error message when the 2nd user on my windows plattform logged in and air video server complained about running multiple instances. i have installed air vidoe server only with user1 (with admin rights) and checked the "start at login" box.

all i have to do now is get a proper upstream (would 1 Mbit/s be enough, or better 5?) and then figure out how the access over the internet works...

Yeah prolly multiple user access can f*ck up that thumbnail cache. It never happened to me, but I'm on a Mac. Dunno if this only happens on windows, but I seem to remember it can happen on other platforms as well.

Normale Videos von Platte gehen auch übers Internet. Leider aber nicht die TV Programme.

Schaut mal nach "Dreambox Live" im AppStore.
damit kann auf das IPhone/IPad gestreamt werden.

jelzi: first of all hijacking this thread is unwanted. Indeed dreambox live is nice in your own lan, but on the road it is practically unusable unless u have an upload and download of at least around 5mbs and even that is not always sufficient I know from my own experience. That's where air video comes in u see ...
