[Boblight SupportThread] Update: 11-02-2014, Boblight 0.8R6

  • hi,

  • Update 0.5R9

    - Cosmetic
    - Better installation. (boblight.conf will be detected and not overwrited if exists)
    - You can set a blacklevel in boblight.conf, so the light wil stay on by black pixels
    - You can set gamma in plugin
    - Lights go now off in standby (set standby mode to on in plugin)
    - Threshold added in e2fronded plugin
    - Startup/Sleep script fixed
    - Wakeup problem fixed
    - Blackbar detection (only top/bottom for now)

After installation, you need to start this script:
    /usr/bin/boblight-dev.sh
This will install all packs you need.

Usefull tip, for a nice ambilight effect.

If you want the same effect as philips ambilight tv's.

Set the right hscan to 0 30 and left hscan to 70 100
Set the top vscan to 0 30 and the bottom hscan to 70 100

Now boblight wil get the average of the color in the zone from 0 to 30 %
This gives me better colors and smoother.

Set the blacklevel in boblight.conf to 0.1
And set the speed in plugin to 55.

    Start/Stop Boblight without Plugin Frondend:

    Start the grabber: /etc/init.d/boblight-control start
    Stop the grabber: /etc/init.d/boblight-control stop
    Restart grabber: /etc/init.d/boblight-control restart

Use other client, when grabber is sleeping
Start a boblight client on other box or pc.

    On linux:
    export DISPLAY=0:0
    boblight-X11 -s iptodeamon -o value=10
On XMBC you can give a ip and port.

    Test paterns:

    Start boblightd -f in telnet

boblight-chase 1 ffcc gives you a chase (ctrl+c is cancel)
    boblight-chase 3 ffcc gives you a rainbow
    boblight-chase 4 ffcc gives you a rainbow
    boblight-chase 5 ffcc00 gives you a color, this is orange/yellow
boblight-chase 5 cc0000 gives you a color, this is red

Atmolight users with 4 leds strips, can use the config in attachement.
Rename to boblight.conf and replace in /etc

Don forget to edit /etc/boblight.conf. without a boblight.conf: no light.

if there is a error, please post it.

  • Hi from Spain, Don't speak german, only a little bit of English...

    I have a VU+ UNO with Blackhole 1.7.2 image + Karatelight 16.

After updating Boblight from 0.5-r6 to 0.5-r9 the frontend plugin dissapeared from the plugins panel. I can start boblight with boblight-control command and it works fine, so I replaced the frontend files with the r6 version ones and seems to work fine (as a temporary solution). I can't figure whats happening. All the needed addons are correctly installed. Any clues? Anyone has same simptoms?

    Thanks.

    Edit: Fixed with this solution:

    Thanks.

  • Hi, I'll try to help you:

    1) enter to a telnet session to your box
    2) enter the command init 4 (enigma2 stops)
    3) edit the file \etc\enigma2\settings and locate the entry: Config.plugins.Boblight_grab.value= and change the value to an integer value (for example 2.0 to 2, 3.0 to 3 and so on)
    4) enter the command init 3 (enigma starts).
    5) reboot.

    Good luck...

  • Hello there,

I finally got my boblight daemon running on my VU+ UNO and it is also works perfectly with my XBMC. My problem is, that the colors don't match and I don't know, how to improve them.

The white is more like a blue and red is more like a hot pink.

I'm running Adalight with an Arduino UNO and a 50 leds string. The main colors in the boblight are configured with the default values:

    [color]
    name red
    rgb FF0000
    [color]
    name green
    rgb 00FF00
    [color]
    name blue
    rgb 0000FF

Where shall I do the changes? Do I have to play with the RGB values or can I change some settings in the Boblight config panel? I didn't find explanation to settings like color value, saturation (incl. min/max) and threshold and their impact on the colors.

I want to have boblight as accurate as in this video, where Lightpack is being used. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wumdVgtuFo

VU+ UNO, VTI 5.1.x, 500GB internal HDD, 4GB Stick for PICONS
Arduino UNO, 50 WS2801 LEDs, Boblight (always the latest version)

  • mich würd mal interessieren was eure einstellungen so sind ?
