I think, the NFS-server ist not installed, at least there is no such process running (if you check it with ps-command by telnet). On my 600 I can play movies from the 800, but not vice versa.

If you telnet the 600 from the pc:-

    cd /media/net/video
    ls

Then - do you not see your server share folder ?

If not - try the nfs mount command from the telnet to the 600. What reply do you get ?

    Cheers, pcd.

  • I can't change to /media/net/video, gets me "cd: 1: can't cd to /media/net/video"

I mount the movies of my 600 to my 800 by telnet with:
    mount -t nfs -o rsize=8192,wsize=8192,rw,soft,tcp,nolock 192.168.1.149:/mnt/hdd/movie /hdd/movie/dm600
    (Dm600 is IP .149, DM800 is .179)

my 800 gives me "mount: nfsmount failed: Bad file descriptor"

So I guess, there is no NFS-server running...

  • Hi erdbeere,

Ok, let me understand the problem !

You wrote "On my 600 I can play movies from the 800, but not vice versa."

So - (a) you can nfs mount the 800 movie folder on the 600 /media/net/video folder ?

    (b) But you cannot mount the 600 movie folder on the 800 ?

Put your 600 movie folder in /media/net and try :-

    mount -t nfs -o rsize=8192,wsize=8192,rw,soft,tcp,nolock 192.168.1.149:/media/net/movie /hdd/movie/dm600

    Cheers, pcd.

  • hi pcd, it does not work

    Error:
    mount: Mounting 192.168.1.149:/media/net/movie on /hdd/movie/dm600
failed: Address family not supported by protocol

Is someone able to nfs-mount the 600 at all?

  • stupid question:
    is the IP correct?

I got similiar errors when the NFS server ran on the same ports..
Change the NFS server port to e.g. 2059 on one box, restart the daemon/box and try again..

    Edit:
Btw, on my boxes i didn't get successfull mounts with tcp, but udp works great.
To avoid lags I'd suggest using rsize=32768 and wsize=32768

  • Hi crnxhh,

Can you please describe your nfs mount (box to box) procedure more fully. I can then put it up in future for info.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers, pcd.
