Howto: eTorrent Alternative "Transmission"

Unter http://www.transmissionbt.com/download.php gibt es eine neuere Version von Transmission, ich habe aber leider keinen Plan welche Variante man da nehmen kann, oder ob man das selbst kompilieren muss, was ich befürchte. Hat das schon jemand gemacht und sind die Probleme damit dann behoben?

That's why I asked if somebody had compiled a version for the dreambox yet.

Pherhaps someone could do this in the next days, so that we can test again.

So habs mal getestet (newnigma 3, OE 1.6):

Ich starte den torrent-daemon mit parameter zu meiner config-File (transmission-daemon -g /Pfad/zum/Configverzeichnis), laut ps fax ist der prozess aktiv. Dann probiere ich das Webfrintend zu öffnen, was auch geladen wird, nur kommt sofort die Meldung "Connection FailedCould not connect to the server. You may need to reload the page to reconnect." und im Hintergrund sehe ich das leere Webfrontend. selbst mit torrents im resume-Verzeichnis passiert nichts. Auch an den Files im downloadverzeichnis tut sich bisher nichts (letze Änderung...)

Mal sehn ob ich der einzige bin, bei dem es nicht funktioniert.

If I started transmission, it runs for approx. one ore two minutes and then my network crashed. After that I have to make a complete restart to solve the problems occured of the crash.

Yesterday I installed the 1.92 and 2.01 versions on my Newnigma 3.0.1 and both versions kill the network and, furthermore, they eat a lot of ram. When the Transmission is off, I've got 78 MB of ram. After running it, free ram drops to 3 MB

Sorry for posting one message after another but I'd really like to refresh this topic. Is there any way that someone could compile Transmission 2.0.3 to our rusty Dreamboxes on OE 1.6?

Still requesting a transmission 2.0.3 for Dreambox in tarball or .ipk för us not that good at installing things manually on our boxes.

Liebe Admins, Mods, VIPs und Spezialisten,

hier haben mehrere User scheinbar das gleiche Problem unter OE1.6, dass das Netzwerk nach Starten eines Torrent Clients (Transmission und eTorrent) zusammen bricht. Bei mir funktionieren keine Netwerkverbindungen mehr, wie z.B. Homesharing oder das AdOn der FritzBox. Dieser Zustand kann nur nach einem kompletten Neustart behoben werden. Ein Neustart von Enigma reicht hier nicht mehr aus. Dieses Problem besteht erst seit dem Wechsel von OE1.5 auf die 1.6 Version.

Falls dieses Thema hier nicht gewünscht wird, dann bitte eine PM schicken.

Bitte um Hilfe. Möchte gerne bei der Lösung mithelfen - ihr müsst mir nur sagen was ich tun darf...

Yes, problem is still there.

Same problem with ctorrent. After a few minutes, it is impossible to connect to the dreambox.

Seems the problem is related to the new linux kernel and not to transmission.

I went back to GP4.7 => works well since two days!!!

I did the same; With 4.7 works fine.

With 5.1 I also had problems with massive FTP transfers.

Does anyone know if this bug is reported to OpenDreambox 1.6 project?

It's good to hear that the problem is finally identified as E2-related.
Hopefully the wizards at DMM will now be able to solve the problem, unless they are occupied tuning and modifying the software in their cars

Transmission 2.10

* New command-line utility "transmission-edit" for editing torrent files
* New command-line utility "transmission-show" for viewing torrent files
* New command-line utility "transmission-create" for creating torrent files

Installed transmission 2.10 on DEBH 1.3.3 and it is, so far, working without problems. No network freeze, no problems connecting.
Only thing is I can't remember where the config files are...

Of course, 3 minutes or so after I wrote the last post, the box freezes, the network won't respond, and I can't connect to it in any way whatsoever.

So, problem is still there.
