esata hard drive doesn't go to sleep mode in deep standby

  • Hi,
esata hard drive doesn't go to sleep mode in deep standby

how can I enable it? It works on some other images

Edit: I have the latest iCVS image. And the december release also had the same problem, thats why I abandoned it before and I will be forced to abandon iCVS again if this isnt solvable

  • Thank you mutxamel.

I tried the first alternative, and the hard drive does go to sleep but the dreambox hangs there now so another problem has arisen then.

Am I doing something wrong with the script?

    I added
    "
    else
    hdparm -Y /dev/sda1"

    Below
    "
    if grep -qs '^md.*active' /proc/mdstat
    then
    hddown=""
    "

Like the forum post said in /etc/init.d/halt

    Know any solution?

  • What exactly does your box do ???

Try to download the Halt-file from here http://www.dream-multimedia-tv…ad&postID=93216#post93216

and write in /etc/init.d instead of yours halt-file ! See if that works !

    * First the HDD goes to sleep and then it takes about 90 sec. before the box goes to sleep !!!

  • There is no file to download there? I only see the command lines.

Well when i tried this 3 days ago, The hard drive went to sleep, but the box was still operating several minutes with a still picture. Green light on front, not red.

What i wish to do is to have this deep standby, and then shut down all power mostly to save energy, and I don't like to leave things in standby mode while not at home.

  • Your file worked!!! THANK YOU Mutxamel!!!

It looks the same as mine, but maybe my editor (wordpad) uses some different line feed /tab och character table?

I wonder why iCVS team does not implement this in their image?

    :hurra:

.... then it will the editor you've used !
I should have told you about that editor-issue!
I always use "Notepad++" (free download).

  • Mutxamel, you have saved my week :)

Nice to receive help. I've tried in many places but seems to be german-only on many forums.

    :thx:
