Good afternoon friends,

I need some tips regarding geminiopenvpn.

I have a openvpn server working great, and I have two dreamboxs, one is a DM800 PVR and the other one is a DM500HD V2, and my question/doubts are:

What are diferences between the geminiopenvpn plugin in the DM800 PVR and DM500HD V2?

Why the configs files are diferent from each other?

Can I install the plugin that I have in the DM800 PVR ( beacause it`s working great ) in the DM500HD V2, if not how can I can I configure the DM500HD V2?

I already read this but didn`t help me.

http://wiki.blue-panel.com/index.php/GP3.2_OpenVPN_(en)#OpenVPN_Client

Thanks in advance

Because the old Plugin offers only a
p2p based vpn connection.

On newer Boxes the base is a bridged vpn
based setup using certificates. (Does not work on a old dm800.)

Pay attention, this is what the plugin offers....
U can do almost everything regarding openvpn
whenever u just add manually the correct config files, etc.

Would recommend to use a routed (tun) based openvpn setup via
certificates in between of all boxes. But all must be done manually....
no support by a plugin.... .....but all is very well explained in all openvpn
tutorials around the world.

Hi mfgeg thanks for answering,

Like I told in the post, I don`t have any problem to get it working on my DM800 PVR, it works great.

I have all the files in the correct place but in DM500HD V2 It simply do not start, how can get it to start in daemons?

What is the name of the config file?
And what is the usage when u start openvpn maunally with your config file?

openvpn --config /etc/openvpn/config.conf

Have u checked the /var/log/messages for any errors?

Hmm make sure conf file has the extension eg. client.conf.
Put it into /etc/openvpn, and restart the box.

Well sure. There is always a way..

Try if u can start and stop the connection with this command....

code:
1:
/etc/init.d/openvpn start

/etc/init.d/openvpn stop

If yes we can add a symlinks rc.x.d by using this command

code:
1:
update-rc.d openvpn defaults

This command manages services.
So it will add openvpn as a startup service to your system.

Anyway you can also use disable or the remove option with the
update.rc command.
